On the 23rd of April following Forward Festival for creativity, design and communication, Forward Film Festival puts the spotlight on the future of fim, video and television. At the Museum for Applied Arts our partners like ARTE Creative, VIMEO, 3sat, VICE and Kürzestfilm-Festspiele show the audience creative, experimental and humorous productions in their individually curated slots. These diverse parts of the program at Forward Film Festival offer the opportunity to get an insight into the broad range of audio-visual media across all genres and their opportunities for development.

Music videos, short-documentaries, love stories and a circus. Vimeo presents their most exciting and creative videos at Forward Film Festival, with a setlist directly from New York. Curated by: Sam Morrill, leading day-to-day curator at Vimeo Staff Picks Channels.
ARTE Creative, ARTE’s young spin-off, screens their innovative, up-to-date and crazy formats. The curator of the program, Julian Windisch Managing Editor at ARTE, and some of the filmmakers will be present and talk about ARTE Creative, how to find crazy and fresh new content and the creative heads behind those productions. Be ready for trash, low-budget productions and street philosophy.
The Austrian Premiere of “Author: The JT LeRoy Story” at Forward Film Festival shines light on the media phenomenon that is the american Author Jeremy Terminator LeRoy (JT LeRoy), his star hype and how much truth there is behind all of it.
Another preview at Forward Film Festival: 3sat screens Constanze Griessler’s film “Erfolgreich Scheitern” (successful failure). The screening is followed by a panel discussion about the importance of ‘failure’ in the creative process with: Bettina Wenko (fuck up nights, Innsbruck), Stefan Salcher (LWZ), Petra Gruber (3sat Österreich), Constanze Griessler, moderated by: Roland Gratzer (FM4).
Snapchat-videos, Instagram-videos and the shortest films (Kürzestfilme). Michaela Bilgeri and the Landjäger Magazin screen a ‘Best-of’ from the last three festival editions and introduce us into the genre of 12-second-films. A format that allows everyone to be a filmmaker and a possibility to present their hot shit to the public.
